Benefits
What happened to Google's URL shortener?
Google discontinued its Google URL Shortener (goo.gl). According to its own announcement, goo.gl links with no activity stopped working on August 25, 2025, while links still in use keep working. To create new links you need another shortener.
Miniurl is a free alternative: you paste the long link and get a short one like miniurl.cl/my-link, with a QR code and click stats by country and device. It works for Google Drive, Forms, Docs, and Maps links, and any other URL.
The goo.gl links you already shared still belong to Google: Miniurl can't edit or recover them. For new links, it can.
