X (Twitter) link cleaner

Paste one or more, one per line. Works with x.com and twitter.com: posts, profiles, and searches.

Cleaning happens in your browser: the contents of your links are never sent to or stored by Miniurl.

How people use it

  • Sharing a post in a chat, a forum, or public social media without the parameters X adds when you copy the link.
  • Sending a link to someone you don't know well without leaving an identifier in it.
  • Posting an X post in a bio, a website, or an email with a shorter, cleaner URL.
  • Saving X links in a document or notes without each one carrying different parameters.
  • Cleaning several links at once, one per line, before pasting them into a document.

What are the parameters in an X link?

When you copy the link of a post from X, the link often carries parameters after the “?” sign: for example https://x.com/username/status/2115821189511987387?a=abc123&s=20. The post opens the same with or without them; the only essential parts are the username and the post number.

According to reports from users and link-cleaning tools (as far as we know, there's no official explanation from X), the “s” parameter shows where the link was copied from (for example 20 on the web and 46 on iOS) and “t” is an identifier tied to whoever shares it. Links copied from X also carry “a”, another code that changes with each link; we don't know what it means. That's why many people prefer not to leave them in the links they share with strangers or in public.

With this cleaner you paste the link and get the same link without “s”, “t”, “a”, or utm parameters, ready to copy. Other parameters are kept, such as the text of a search. Everything happens in your browser: the contents of your links are never sent to Miniurl.

Removing the parameters doesn't change what you shared before or what X knows about what you do with your account. You can also clean a link by hand: delete everything from the “?” sign to the end. If the link starts with t.co, it can't be cleaned here: open it first and copy the full address shown in the browser.

If you also want a short link and to measure how many people open it, use Miniurl's X (Twitter) link shortener.
