How it works

  1. 1

    Create a preset

Save a source, medium, and campaign combination under a name, for example “Instagram · October”.

  2. 2

    Pick it when shortening

When you create or edit a link, select the preset and you see the final URL before saving.

  3. 3

    Share the short link

Whoever opens it lands on your destination with the parameters already set, and your analytics tool sees the source.

Frequently asked questions

What are UTM parameters?

They are tags added to the end of a URL (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content). Tools like Google Analytics read them to tell you which channel and campaign each visit came from.

How do I add UTM to a Miniurl short link?

Save a preset in Settings → UTM and select it when you create or edit the link. Miniurl adds the parameters to the destination URL, so the short link stays short.

What if my URL already had UTM?

The utm_* it already had are replaced by the preset's, not added. So switching presets doesn't leave old parameters mixed in. The rest of the URL's parameters are kept.

How many presets can I save?

3 on the free plan and 20 on the Pro plan.

Can I do it through the API?

Yes. You can create presets and pass `utm_preset_id` when creating or updating a link. The preset limits are the same as in the dashboard.

Does Miniurl show results by campaign?

The Miniurl dashboard shows each link's clicks by country, city, device, and source. The breakdown by utm_source or utm_campaign is in your analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, since that's the one that receives the parameters.

Does changing a link's preset change the clicks already counted?

It doesn't change Miniurl's click count. It changes the destination URL from then on, so new visits arrive with the new parameters.
